"Mountain is a reflection on storytelling. We are storytellers by nature. We search for patterns and signs, trying to understand the world and draw meaning from it. This work is a homage to that impulse. I wanted to paint using the same medium that was used in caves 30,000 years ago—to tell the simplest possible story: that of a mountain. As if it were the first story ever told"
