Surrealist Engraving Sylvain Durand

A wonderful example of Surrealist print making by the French artist, Sylvain Durand (1928-2018). The piece shows the characteristic dream-like quality of the surrealist movement , with it's organic forms and abstract figures drawn in delicate line work that morph and interconnect across the composition. 

Sylvain Durand, while not as well known as his surrealist contemporaries, worked during a rich period of French printmaking when many artists were exploring forms that exist between the conscious and unconscious mind.
