RESERVED: An atmospheric oil on panel cloud study by Finnish artist Ragnar Ungern (1885-1955), signed and dated 1917. The painting captures dramatic cloud formations rising above a low horizon line, a composition characteristic of Ungern's work.
Ungern was director of the Art Society's drawing school in Turku from 1917-1945 and acting curator of the Turku Art Museum from 1919-1923. His paintings often featured skies with cloud formations in different lighting over low horizon lines, typically depicting archipelago landscapes.
The piece is reframed in an antique silver-style wood frame by Bergevall Ramar, Stockholm.
