Hans Malmberg Swans Photograph 1968
A silver gelatin photograph by Hans Malmberg, signed and dated lower right, 1968. Two swans on the water at Waldemarsudde, Stockholm, the near bird observed closely, its neck curved and beak lowered, the second receding softly out of focus behind it. A quiet, formally precise image, characteristic of Malmberg's eye for the lyrical in the everyday. Framed in black wood with a deep mount.
Malmberg (1927,1977) was a founding member of Tio Fotografer, the influential Swedish photography collective formed in 1958. He is represented in the Museum of Modern Art, New York, and the Nordic Museum holds 363 of his images. In 1955, Edward Steichen selected his work for MoMA's world-touring exhibition The Family of Man, seen by 10 million visitors.
Swedish, 1968.
