An oil on panel still life by Gunnar Hållander, signed lower right. A group of objects, vessels, a sphere, geometric forms, arranged across a grey ground, the composition resolved almost entirely in tones of grey and white with two punctuating notes of ochre yellow. The restrained palette and flattened, painterly handling are characteristic of Hållander's still life work from this period. Re-framed in a painted beech wood box frame by Bergevall Ramar, Stockholm.

Hållander (1915-1980) studied briefly at Otte Sköld's painting school in Stockholm before becoming largely self-taught. A scholarship from the Örnsköldsvik Art Association in 1950 took him to Paris, Madrid and Lisbon. He is represented in public collections including the Nationalmuseum and Moderna Museet in Stockholm, the Sundsvall Museum, and the Institut Tessin in Paris.
