A pitcher and vase full of wonders. An original still life composition by the Swedish artist Esaias Thorén (1901 - 1981) possibly painted for his wife, Elsa Thorén.
Thorén was a visual artist whose early cubist work orientated towards Surrealism in later life. His work was symbol laden with reference to events in world politics. Thorén participated in many art collectives during the early 20th century, notably the Art Concrete group. A group formed by the avantgarde, Otto G Carlsund.
His work is represented at the Moderna Muséet in Stockholm, Göteborgs Konstmuseum, Malmö Museum, Gävle, Örebro and Halmstads museums, as well as Institut Tessin in Paris, National Galleriet in Oslo and in New York.
