Cinema Table Gunilla Allard 1980s

A dramatically simple and neat side table by Gunilla Allard, part of her Cinema series manufactured by Lammhults during the 1990s that includes the Cinema Chairs, Cinema Sofa and Cinema Table. Signature lined 19mm chromium plated steel tubing legs and a new table top in stepped blue Valchromat. 

Gunilla Allard studied interior and furniture design at Konstfack, the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm and was a visiting student at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts School in Copenhagen, graduating in 1988. She was selected for a student workshop arranged by Lammhults and went on to become their first female designer collaborating with the manufacturers for over 30 years. Allard desiged an extensive range of furniture including the Cinema Series. Her Cinema Easy chair (designed in 1994) received the George Jensen prize where the jury described her funiture  as '...strict, minimalistic and elegantly designed. The proportions and details of her furniture reveal a genuine sense of quality”. Gunilla Allard has become one of the foremost names in contemporary Scandinavian design.
