A low coffee table or bench with clean lines and characterised by its functionality. The model is called 'Bamse' and was designed by Roland Wilhelmsson (1928-2017) in the 1970s and manufactured by Karl Andersson & Söner AB. The bench is made in pine wood with a deep burgundy stain maintaining a wonderful original patina.

One of the prominent furniture designers of the post war period in Sweden, Willhelmsson studied at The University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm. After graduation he worked for leading Swedish furniture manufacturers, such as Nordiska Kompaniet and Källemo. He established his own design studio in the 1960s, where he continued to produce minimalist furniture designs characterised by his innovative use of materials, clean and simple lines and attention to detail. Wilhelmsson was celebrated for his work in laminated wood creating furniture that was both lightweight and strong and during his career he was awarded several design awards including the Swedish Design Prize and the Lunning Prize. His work has been exhibited in several major international galleries and museums.
