Fulham Pottery Tulipiere Vase
15 500 SEK
A exceptional statement 6 holed Tulipiere designed to hold bowing Spring tulips. A stunning piece of Fulham Pottery, circa 1930s with a scalloped pleated body, oval footed base and the synonymous unglazed finish. Hand-pressed white Devon clay and glazed on the inside only to ensure water tightness. The outside was left unglazed so the vases could be painted to match a clients room!
Designed by Gerard de Witt in 1937 for the Alber Ware range for Fulham Pottery, London. Fulham Pottery had been making the Constance Spry range of mantle vases for a few years. Encouraged by their success they decided to design and produce their own range of simpler versions. The vase is known as design V1. The London Fulham Factory closed in 1956 when the Clean Air Act was issued by the then UK government forcing the factory, who fired their kilns with coal, to close.
