Komposition Ulf Trotzig 1950
16 500 SEK
A wonderfully vibrant piece that stubbornly explores colour and movement.
Ulf Trotzig (1925 - 2013) was a Swedish painter, illustrator and graphic artist originally from Jämtland. Trotzig studied at Valand Academy of the Arts in Gothenburg (1946-1951) followed by a long study trip that took him through Spain and France during the 1950s. Trotzig settled in Paris studying graphics. Moving back to Lund, Sweden in 1969.
He was inspired early on, by the blocky abstractions and colour fields works of Nicolas de Staêl. Together with his exploration of graphics in Paris, Trotzigs abstractions moved towards an increasingly rhymic form. With a focus on movement and structure.
A highly regarded artist who has participated in many exhibitions in Sweden and abroad.
His work is represented at the Moderna Museet Stockholm, National Museum Stockholm, British Museum London, Moma New York amongst many others.
Signed 'UT' and dated 1950.
Oil on canvas in an original artists frame (can be re-framed upon request).
