Eddie Figge Tylösand 1940s
2 900 SEK
Eddie Figge (1904 - 2003) came to art later in life, after a career in Stockholm during the 1930s as a primadonna ballerina and actress. She studied art at Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris (1939) and later at Otte Skölds Målarskola in Stockholm (1939–1942).
Her art is often referenced together with the modernist movement of Arte Informale. A branch that grew out of abstract expressionism during the post war period.
Eddie debuted as an artist in 1950, after being awarded the critics choice by Ulf Linde for the Swedish National Association for the Performing Arts.
She worked consistently though her life exploring art, poetry and the written form in her art.
This piece is titled 'Tylösand', after a beach on the West coast of Sweden. It is a spontaneous piece with beautiful expressionist strokes of blues, pinks and a wonderful aubergine.
