Glass Bowl Simon Gate

A highly collectible glass piece circa 1920s, this large serving bowl has an intricately designed foot and was designed by eponymous Simon Gate (1883-1945). Famed for his contribution to Swedish Grace.
Gate was renowned for his experimental glass work at Orrefors where he worked together with Knut Berqvistfrom and Edward Hald from 1917. Together they broke Orrefors to the international world and established the companies reputation for Swedish Grace glass at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1925.
Gate is represented at the National Museum in Stockholm, the Örebro County Museum and the Kalmar Art Museum amongst others.
